Managing File Permissions

Permission management is very important to ensure that the correct members have an ability to view files and that those responsible to manage those files are able to edit them.

Flexible permissions

Church Social Administrators and members with edit access to that folder can grant file folder access to to a combination of people and groups. This means that you can grant several groups plus several individuals access to a folder.

You can also choose whether each one is a viewer (the default setting) or an editor by toggling the appropriate Can edit or Can view option in the drop-down menu to the right of each person or group.  To remove a member from access to a folder you would choose the Remove option in the

Example: A council or consistory folder might allow all elders and deacons to view the files, but only the council clerk and chairman to edit them.

In the example above you can see that the Council group is signed the Can view permission level and that John Calvin and Patrick Jansen (while members of the Council group) have been granted the Can edit permission level.  This elevated permission for John and Patrick will override the view permission they received through the Council group.

Administrator access to files and folders

Church Social administrators can manage folder permissions for any folder in your account when needed (for instance, if a folder ends up with no remaining editors). Church Social administrators do not have full access to all folders by default.

Note: Sensitive folders — like council or consistory folders — stay private unless access to administrators is explicitly granted.
